How we clean — the trucks, the gear, the chemistry
Most companies will tell you they've got "professional equipment." We'd rather just show you.

How does The Total Wash Co. clean a house?
The Total Wash Co. cleans Madison homes with two 8 GPM pressure rigs, soft-wash chemistry (sodium hypochlorite diluted to about 1% on siding), and Tucker Rival pure-water carts that make under-10 ppm water for spot-free windows. Every chemical we use is named and explained on these pages, with the plant-protection steps we follow on every job.
Why show you all of this?
Two Ford F-250s, wrapped so you can't miss them. Each one carries an 8 GPM pressure rig — Honda GX690 engine, General Pump pump — fed by its own 225- or 250-gallon buffer tank, because your spigot can't keep up and a starved pump is how corners get cut. A Whisper Wash surface cleaner for concrete. A Tucker Rival pure-water cart that takes Madison tap water, which runs 300 to 550 ppm of dissolved minerals, down under 10 before it touches your glass. Every chemical we carry gets named on these pages — what it is, what it does, and how we keep it off your plants.
Here's the thing nobody says out loud: house-wash chemistry is bleach. Pool-strength sodium hypochlorite, cut to about 1% by the time it lands on your siding. It's the industry standard because it kills algae and mildew instead of pushing them around. So we soak every plant within reach before we start, rinse them again after, and finish with a neutralizer. The pressure washer stays pointed at concrete. Your siding and your roof get a soft wash, never a blast.
Ashton'll personally set up every job that puts chemistry on your home. Mason and Chris run the same rigs, the same checklists, and the same rule: if we wouldn't do it on our own house, we don't do it on yours.

The trucks, the gear, the chemistry

The trucks
Two wrapped Ford F-250s — a 2012 and a 2020 with the 7.3L V8 — and everything that rides on their decks.

The equipment
Every rig and tool, named: 8 GPM Honda GX690 / General Pump rigs, Whisper Wash surface cleaners, Tucker Rival pure-water carts, and what each does for your house.
Read how we do itThe chemistry
Sodium hypochlorite (yes, bleach) and how we dilute it, the surfactant, what handles rust and oil, and the plant steps we never skip.
Coming after the next shootHow each job is done

House washing
Soft wash: chemistry at about 1%, a timed dwell, a low-pressure rinse. No pressure washer on siding.

Pressure washing
Pre-treat first, then a surface cleaner on 8 GPM — flow, not force, and no stripes.

Gutter cleaning
Scooped by hand, every downspout flushed until it runs, photographed as proof.

Window cleaning
Pure water under 10 ppm, carbon-fiber poles to the second story, a hand squeegee at ground level.

The black streaks are algae. A soft wash kills them; a pressure washer would strip the shingles.

Snow removal
Clear to pavement first, salt after, at the lowest rate that keeps it safe.
Coming after the next shootWhat we never do
- Never high pressure on siding, roofs or glass.
- Never mix SH with anything but water and Elemonator.
- Never skip the plant pre-wet, the re-rinse or the neutralizer.
- Never pressure-wash a downspout.
- Never leave SH in the pump.
- Never claim gear we don't own — no hot-water unit, no lift, no drone cleaning.
